Tiafoe overcomes emotion in interview
Frances Tiafo's stellar performance at the 2022 US Open finally ended in a five-set thriller in Friday night's semifinal by Carlos Alcaraz in front of a sold-out crowd at Arthur Ashe Stadium.
The 24-year-old American lasted more than four hours but was unable to resist the final wave from the 19-year-old Spaniard
3 on the field and fell 6-7 (6) 6-3 6-1.
6-7(5), 6-3 in a match that lasted nearly midnight in New York City.
Tiafo, who inspired former First Lady Michelle Obama and Wizards star Bradley Beale to support her at Flushing Meadows, became the first American since 2006 to reach the semifinals of the US Open.
Just missed out on his ultimate goal: to win his country's only Grand Slam.
Despite not getting a chance to win the US Open trophy this weekend, Tiafo has shown he is capable of fighting for future Grand Slam titles, which he has promised to do in New York.
