What time does the Eiffel Tower light?

As it gets dark, the Eiffel Tower's golden light turns on automatically within 10 minutes, thanks to the light-sensitive Twilight sensor.

In addition to structural lighting, a beacon at the top of the tower also turns on at dusk.

It commemorates the beacons installed on the monument in 1889. Enveloped in its golden splendor, the lights of the Eiffel Tower dazzle with this brilliance.

Since 2000, the sparkles have been turned on every hour after night for 5 minutes until 1:00 PM (when at 7:40 p.m., the first glow appears at 8:00 p.m.).

The last period of flashes starts at 1 a.m. and is slightly different: the gold light and beacon are turned off, with only the bright light left on for about 5 minutes.

It is interesting to note that this sparkling effect is produced by less than 20,000 6W bulbs glowing in sequence at a much faster rate.

The effect is inspired by a camera flash!
